The Diary of an Unhealthy Dart Throwing Slug. Week Seven of Nine.
March 19, 2011
Shedding more of my slug weight was easy this week. I barely ate.
Like you, I am sure, I spent much of my time following the news about the devastating events in Japan – from the 9.0 earthquake that struck and unleashed the tsunami on March 11, flattening coastal cities and killing thousands, to the unfolding crisis at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear facility. I have been glued to my television set.
But as a dart player and promoter the tragedy took a personal turn when I learned that several Japanese darts players were, and still are, missing. They were in Sendai for a tournament on the PERFECT Dart Tour circuit the day before shifting tectonic plates collided and unleashed their fury…
Today – March 19 – we have an opportunity to help, at least in a small way, the players and families affected by these catastrophic events. The Darts Around The World (DATW) guys, working with Rob Heckman and Tsuyoshi Yamasaki, have organized the first-ever podcast-a-thon to unite the world darts community in a single purpose: to raise funds to provide some measure of relief to our darts brethren in Japan.
They’ve put together one hell of an exciting show and have already collected several thousands of dollars in pledges. It all begins at 2:00 p.m. EST and will run late into the evening, or longer.
And please be as generous as you possibly can.
From the Field,
Dartoid
