MASTER OF CEREMONIES NAMED!

The always flamboyant, always humorous and often controversial Old Dart Coach, Howie Reed, will headline Dartoid’s “Darts in Paradise” as Master of Ceremonies!

A legend to the legends of darts

Howie has long been recognized as one of the top commentators in the sport of darts.  His column “Toeing the Oche” goes back decades and is heralded today as the longest running chronicle about darts in the world. As his involvement goes back 50 years suffice it to say Howie knows all the legends and they know him.

1976 – a year in infamy

Howie first picked up a dart in 1976 and the darts world has never been the same.  In 1978, he began writing about the sport for the Northern California Darts Association.  In the early 1980s, his then column, “Howie’s World,” became a staple in Bull’s Eye News.  He did a stint with Darts World in the UK and the Challenge of Champions on ESPN with Chris Berman.

Boxing, rodeo cowboy and ad man…

In 1990, Howie began to also write about boxing – first for Ring Sports, then the Pattaya Mail (1992-2008) and the Pattaya Times (2009-2010).  Today, he is regarded as one of the best purveyors of pugilistic phrase in the world.  Prior to this (and unknown to most) Howie was a successful advertising executive and “semi successful” rodeo cowboy.

A coach to the best

During the 1980s, Howie captained the American Pacific Cup team, the Singapore team at the Asian Cup, assisted Canada at the Pacific Cup in Melbourne and ran the Canadian National Championship for several years running. He produced the Pacific Cup in 1994 in Vancouver.  It’s no mystery why he’s called the Old Dart Coach.

If you know Howie, you will immediately understand why you do not want to miss him in action.  If you do not know Howie, do not miss this opportunity to meet one of the long-standing personalities in our sport.

You will not be disappointed!

From the Field,

Dartoid
