\nGREY SKIES FOR LADIES’ DARTS<\/strong><\/p>\n

The world, especially sport, has\u00a0transitioned from rewarding excellence\u00a0to kotowing to the\u00a0loudest minority.\u00a0\u00a0Darts\u00a0has\u00a0not escaped this\u00a0rapidly-spreading WOKE virus.\u00a0\u00a0Common sense the only known vaccine.<\/p>\n

Like many, the World Darts Federation (WDF)\u00a0grabs its ankles asking for neither a cocktail before nor a cigarette after.\u00a0 Decisions are\u00a0many, made with nary\u00a0a scintilla of common sense – they just\u00a0grease the\u00a0squeaky wheel.<\/p>\n

The Old Dart Coach recently wrote,\u00a0\u201cThe WDF\u00a0may be faced with a conundrum.\u00a0 The New Zealand WDF\u00a0Gold women\u2019s singles was\u00a0won by\u00a0Victoria Monaghan, a transsexual (MtF).\u00a0\u00a0Does\u00a0Monaghan\u00a0play in the Lakeside Championships against men or women?\u201d<\/p>\n

The question was made\u00a0moot.\u00a0 The WDF\u00a0announced that Monaghan\u00a0will compete against\u00a0ladies\u00a0based on\u00a0WDF gender rules.\u00a0\u00a0\u201cTransgender refers to individuals who have been assigned one gender (male or female) at birth but identify with the other gender.\u201d<\/p>\n

Assigned?<\/p>\n

Dear WDF:\u00a0a baby\u00a0with a \u201cstick shift\u201d is a\u00a0boy.\u00a0 The one with automatic transmission is a girl.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Then, continuing from WDF gender rules, “Male-to-female (MtF) transgendered persons, to compete as a female, must submit documentation from a medical practitioner that gender reassignment has been ongoing for at least one year.\u201d\u00a0 That does rule out walking up one morning singing Shaina Twains \u201cFeel Like a Women\u201d as a qualification.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Presenting\u00a0a letter from Dr. Pepper might\u00a0suffice or maybe even Dr. Immense Balls, who allegedly just operated on Peter Wright for a gall stone.<\/p>\n

The WDF rules were established in October of 2017.\u00a0\u00a0The\u00a0banning of\u00a0Anastasia Dobromyslova was based on\u00a0documents found where the sun don\u2019t shine.<\/p>\n

The WDF decision is not good for Women’s darts.\u00a0\u00a0How many dart playing women have gone to\u00a0Dr. Pepper to have a \u201cstick\u201d added so they can play against men?\u00a0 The answer – the same as the number of \u201cBiden Builds Better\u201d ball caps seen daily.<\/p>\n

Barry Hearn, PDC President, has been successful for one reason.\u00a0 He tells it like it is,\u00a0unfettered by the usual \u201cCYA\u201d boiler plate useless babble.<\/p>\n

Hearn said,\u00a0\u201cI always think you don\u2019t do favors.\u00a0\u00a0They won\u2019t last and\u00a0have to be repaid.\u00a0 It\u2019s a meritocracy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maybe he was\u00a0referring\u00a0to the\u00a0recent Women\u2019s event at the Matchplay.\u00a0 With few exceptions, the standard of play\u00a0was not at\u00a0the level of a good top league male player.\u00a0 That\u2019s unacceptable for “cheeks on the chairs\u201d or eyeballs on the TV.<\/p>\n

That\u00a0\u201cfavor\u201d\u00a0to\u00a0the Women\u2019s Series is on the precipice of ejection from\u00a0the good ship PDC.\u00a0\u00a0\u201cHow many are going to play in the Women\u2019s Series next year?\u00a0 It needs to be significantly up to justify the investment, it\u2019s as simple as that.\u00a0 It\u2019s nothing to do with women.\u201d<\/p>\n

The loudest wheel, the demand for more women\u2019s events,\u00a0got the grease – now it must roll.\u00a0\u00a0Women now must support the series with\u00a0numbers to make it\u00a0profitable.\u00a0\u00a0Obliquely addressing\u00a0the PDC decision to feature Fallon Sherrock Hearn said,\u00a0\u201c<\/em>You can\u2019t run an industry on one person, or two people, or three people.\u00a0 I need to see the same demand for places in the Women\u2019s Series as there is for Q School.”<\/p>\n

Not going to happen.\u00a0 Enjoy the Women\u2019s Series this year, or else.<\/p>\n

Hearn added,\u00a0<\/em>\u201cI don\u2019t care if they\u2019re black, white, fat, thin, Christian, Muslim – I wonder, can they play?\u00a0 That\u2019s the only thing we ask for.\u00a0 We\u2019re there for everybody but you\u2019ve got to be able to play.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Does this open the door for darters like Victoria Monaghan to enter the women\u2019s series?<\/p>\n

The skies were shinning for Larry \u201cThe Bald Eagle\u201d\u00a0Butler when he managed to annex CDC event #9 in throwback fashion.\u00a0\u00a0It was Butler\u2019s 17th<\/sup>\u00a0CDC win which\u00a0entrenched him as an \u201call-time\u2019 great.\u00a0 He\u2019s\u00a0USA\u2019s Paul Lim.\u00a0\u00a0Like the Timex the ODC baked in the\u00a0Thanksgiving turkey, Butler\u00a0could “take a licking and keep(s) on ticking.\u201d<\/p>\n

On his way to a 7-3 win over Danny Baggish, Butler took down\u00a0John Norman Jr. (7-0) and\u00a0Jason \u201cLet\u2019s Go\u201d Brandon (6-2).\u00a0 Against Jeff Springer\u00a0(top 16)\u00a0Butler fell behind\u00a02-5 in the race to 6.\u00a0\u00a0The Eagle took flight\u00a0with 4 on a trot where Springer missed 4 match darts in the 10th<\/sup>\u00a0leg.<\/p>\n

There was a grey cloud over Alex Spelman\u00a0coming off his $10,000 ESPN win in the Bullshooter Invitational.\u00a0 He would reach the finals in CDC event #7 and #8, losing both.\u00a0 He lost to a pair of\u00a0Canadians – Jacob Taylor (7-2) and David Cameron (7-3).\u00a0 The\u00a0A-Z Darts CDC events conclude on\u00a0September 2 in Virginia.<\/p>\n

The sun shone brightly on the CDC\u2019s telecast\u00a0on PDC TV.\u00a0 The production was professional.\u00a0 The event was presented as sport missing none of the actual play.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The only negative was the commentators of whom the ODC’s highly critical (the ODC\u2019s bona fides include ESPNs first dart telecast, the Challenge of Champions, with Chris Berman and the Canadian Open on TSN\u00a0(Canada\u2019s ESPN).<\/p>\n

The sound emanating from the computer was \u201cNot Ready for Prime Time.\u201d Specifically, the commentators were unprepared.\u00a0\u00a0Their primary role should have been to enhance the viewer’s\u00a0experience with information\u00a0and\u00a0insight.\u00a0 They offered neither.\u00a0 With nothing to offer, they babbled on uncontrollably.<\/p>\n

Screaming at the computer \u201cSTFU\u201d didn\u2019t work.\u00a0 The lady referee was brilliant.\u00a0 That one\u2019s for you, babe.<\/p>\n

Like the climate in Las Vegas the weather for ladies darts can change in the blink of an eye.\u00a0 The ladies that might be frowning\u00a0could take a page from the stage play \u201cBye Bye Birdie.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gray skies are gonna clear up,<\/em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Put on a happy face;<\/em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Brush off the clouds and cheer up,<\/em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Put on a happy face.<\/em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

A better solution would be to\u00a0stand up to the WDF by refusing to play against \u201ctransitioned men\u201d – then support the PDC\u2019s Women\u2019s Series.\u00a0 Take those two steps while singing the Helen Reddy women\u2019s anthem…<\/p>\n

I am woman, hear me roar<\/em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

In numbers too big to ignore<\/em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

And I know too much to go back an’ pretend<\/em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

‘Cause I’ve heard it all before<\/em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

And I’ve been down there on the floor<\/em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

No one’s ever gonna keep me down again\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

And finally…<\/p>\n

On his 60th<\/sup>\u00a0birthday, the Rolling Stones Keith Richards was offered baby turtle.\u00a0 He asked how long they live?\u00a0 Told 85 years, he politely declined the offer saying, \u201cThat\u2019s the trouble with pets – you always outlive them.\u201d<\/p>\n
